It is important to capture certain client information, such as browser, locale, ip-address and others as part of logging or auditing. I need to do this in a controller and was curious what I can retrieve from ZK. The information you can find here and there in the ZK docs. Here I summarized all essential objects and methods in one simple app.
Finally Google launched also a browser based version of the market, that’s what I thought. Since they have the full access to market apps and data (they “own” it), they should have come out with a very powerful apps browser, right ? Unlike the other websites that build app catalogs using the market API (which gives you limited access only).
What we get is a slightly Web 1.0 style looking website with very limited browsing and searching capabilities. It is time for a search function that allows me to
a) exclude certain apps or titles
b) select the language. Chinese and Korean apps are of no use for me, sorry.
Why can’t I have a list view with 10,25 or 100 results ? Instead I need to click through pages with 12 apps, looking at meaningless apps logos. I rather would see a screenshot.
Remark: For now I stick to AndroidZoom (even there is advertising placed on the site)!
I remember the old days when Netscape aka Mosaic was around and took 90% in the mid-90’s. Then others came in and they lost valuable time by rewriting the whole thing. By 2006 it fell under 1%. (Read more @ wikipedia). I loved Netscape because it came with a simple editing tool for free, a feature none of todays browser packages offer anymore (per default).
Today we have IE (no. 1), FF (no. 2), Opera, Safari and some other browser.
Since August 2007 Microsoft is working on IE8 and they just release last week the second beta version for public download and evaluation. I propose doing that in a virtual machine. (link)
